NTT DoCoMo Inc. said Thursday it bought a 12 percent stake in Indian mobile phone operator Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd. for ¥11 billion.
Japan's largest mobile phone operator also purchased a 26 percent stake in Tata Teleservices Ltd. for ¥250 billion, it said in a statement on its Web site. The payment is in line with an agreement announced in November.
The company at the time said it planned to buy as much as 20 percent of Tata Teleservices Maharashtra.
