Tokyo Gas Co. is forecasting a plunge in sales volume for the year ending next Tuesday, its first annual decline since 1977.
The company, Japan's largest natural gas distributor, said Wednesday the total should come to 12.94 billion cu. meters of gas sold.
The figure for last year was 14.053 billion cu. meters.
