Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Ltd., the mobile phone venture of Sony Corp. and Ericsson AB, expects industry shipments to decline more than 5 percent this year.
The London-based company aims to become one of the three largest handset makers in the world by 2011, it said in a statement released Tuesday in Seoul.
Sony Ericsson said last month the company will continue to target the market for more expensive phones where demand is holding up amid the global recession.
