Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc., Japan's biggest bank, denied a report it is considering entering the bidding for a stake in Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.
The Tokyo-based bank isn't considering a bid, spokesman Takashi Miwa said after the London-based Times newspaper reported that the lender may seek control of Lehman. The report cited people close to the bank it didn't name.
Asian investors are circling Lehman, the fourth-largest U.S. securities firm, after a 74 percent slump in its share price this year on mortgage-related writedowns.
