Sharp Corp. predicted Monday that sales at its household appliances business will climb fourfold in four years.
Sales from microwave ovens, refrigerators and washing machines will reach about ¥1 trillion in the 12 months ending March 2013, from ¥250 billion forecast for this year, President Mikio Katayama said at a briefing in Tokyo.
Revenue will be bolstered by expansion overseas and increased sales to corporations, Katayama said. Demand for products such as Sharp's Healsio steam oven and lighting fixtures using energy-saving light-emitting diodes will also contribute to growth, he said.
