IHI Corp. said Monday it won a ¥20 billion order from Rio Tinto Group to supply four gas turbines for electricity generation.
Japan's third-largest maker of heavy machinery and its Australian engineering unit will handle the design, procurement and construction of the turbines, the Tokyo-based company said. The construction of the turbines will be completed in May 2010, IHI said.
The latest order will take the total number of gas turbines supplied by IHI to London-based Rio to seven, the firm said.
