Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. said Tuesday it is in talks with striking workers at a unit in Vietnam.
The workers, who are employed at Panasonic Communications Vietnam Co., have been on strike since Monday, said Akira Kadota, a spokesman at the Osaka-based company. He didn't give more details, including the number of people on strike.
About 1,000 employees at Matsushita's unit in Hanoi are demanding higher pay to match inflation in Vietnam, The Wall Street Journal reported. Consumer prices in Vietnam surged 25.2 percent in May, the fastest pace since at least 1992.
