Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd., a major automotive parts maker affiliated with India's largest business group, has set up an office in the city of Kagoshima to boost its presence in Japan's automotive industry.
The firm aims to supply automotive components and provide engineering services to Japanese carmakers and auto parts makers through the office.
Its automotive components could be produced either in its plants in India or a new facility in Nanjing, China, that will start operation shortly, according to the company.
Tata AutoComp, which is also supplying auto parts to major Japanese carmakers operating in India, set up an engineering facility in Yokohama in 2007 to provide design and product development services to Japanese carmakers.
Tata stunned the world with its announcement in late March that its group firm, Tata Motors Ltd., had purchased the storied British brands of Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor Co.
