Denso Corp., the world's largest publicly traded auto-parts maker, will spend ¥16 billon to build a new air conditioning systems factory to meet growing demand in Japan.
The plant in Fukushima Prefecture will open by January 2010, the parts-maker said in a statement Wednesday.
Denso, an affiliate of Toyota Motor Corp., will expand in the region along with a subsidiary of Toyota that will build a car factory in nearby Sendai, also scheduled to open in 2010.
Denso, based in Aichi Prefecture, expects sales of about ¥30 billion from the factory in business 2015, according to the statement.
