Isuzu Motors Ltd. received a warning from the transport ministry over the company's repeated recalls of buses.
The warning came after Isuzu filed a recall of 2,427 buses to fix a mechanism that injects air into cylinders. The warning said Isuzu has failed to respond appropriately to past recalls, Naoki Isumi, a ministry official, said Wednesday.
"We are determined to take appropriate measures in regard to the remarks by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport," Isuzu spokesman Koitsu Mabuchi said.
The Erga and Gala models sold under the Isuzu brand will be recalled from Wednesday, along with the Hino Blue Ribbon II bus sold by Hino Motors Ltd., Tokyo-based Isuzu said in a filing to the ministry Tuesday. The buses were produced between May 2000 and August 2005. Isuzu said the fault may cause engines to stall when the buses are moving.
Isuzu also filed a recall of 1,881 Cubic, Erga and Hino Blue Ribbon II buses produced between December 1997 and August 2005.
