Scriptwriter Sou Kuramoto has been awarded the 2007 Special Zaikai Award by the publisher of the business magazine Zaikai for promoting environmental education at his private school in Hokkaido. Since 2005, Kuramoto has been organizing various events and workshops to educate adults and children about the importance of environmental protection.
The publisher also announced six Management Award winners for the year: Atsutoshi Nishida, president of Toshiba Corp.; Hiromasa Yonekura, president of Sumitomo Chemical Co.; Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co.; Tetsuo Nakao, chairman and president of INEC Holdings, Ltd.; Takashi Yamaguchi, chairman of Non-Destructive Inspection Co.; and Sunao Onuma, president of Bunka Gakuen, an educational foundation.
No one was nominated by the selection committee for the annual award's top prize this year, according to the publisher.
