The Finance Ministry's top currency bureaucrat, widely considered an advocate of a weak, yen will step down in a regular reshuffle, a ministry official said Tuesday.
Hiroshi Watanabe will be replaced as vice finance minister for international affairs by Naoyuki Shinohara, the official said on condition of anonymity.
The ministry usually reshuffles its top personnel around this time of year.
