Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was set to arrive in Japan on Monday to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, receive an honorary degree and deliver a speech on Asia's future.

Abdullah will meet with Abe on Tuesday after receiving an honorary doctorate from Meiji University in Tokyo, according to Sachiko Nakada, an official at the Malaysian Embassy.

Making his fifth visit to Japan since becoming prime minister in 2003, Abdullah will give a keynote address at the 13th Nikkei International Conference on the "Future of Asia" on Thursday.
