Fashionable may be the best word to describe the 2007 mobile phone industry, at least according to Masoyoshi Son, chief executive officer of Softbank Mobile Corp.
The unit of Softbank Corp. unveiled 14 new mobile phone handsets Thursday in a rainbow of colors in collaboration with famed color maker Pantone Inc., as well as the world's thinnest-ever high-speed handsets capable of showing digital TV. The models will start hitting the market early next month.
"We have released the slimmest, better-functioning terrestrial digital broadcast TV handsets. And we have pursued fashionable mobile phones," Son told a a packed news conference in Tokyo.
