The Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up just over a point Friday, wrapping up a turbulent 2006 marked by a spate of high-profile corporate scandals.
The TSE finished the year's trading at 11 a.m., with the 225-issue Nikkei stock average closing at 17,225, up 1.02 points, or 0.01 percent, thanks to gains in export-related issues.
The Topix index of all first section issues rose 2.16 points, or 0.13 percent, to close at 1681.07.
