Japan and China took a break from sub-Cabinet-level talks Monday in Tokyo apparently without having agreed on an early resumption of summits after Shinzo Abe becomes prime minister.
The talks dubbed the "comprehensive policy dialogue" will resume Tuesday or later, Vice Foreign Minister Shotaro Yachi told a news conference.
The talks are aimed at paving the way for a summit to ease strained bilateral ties.
