The ministry intends to request 1.2 billion yen under the fiscal 2007 state budget for measures to support children with developmental disabilities. The budget is 4.4 times the spending for the current fiscal year, the sources said.
The expanded support measures include a system to dispatch doctors and other specialists to elementary schools, junior high schools and facilities for those with developmental disabilities when requested, they said.
Experts have so far been dispatched to designated schools only.
