Veteran diplomat Ken Shimanouchi was appointed Tuesday as ambassador to Brazil, officials said.
Shimanouchi, 59, joined the Foreign Ministry in 1971 and served as a minister at the embassy in Britain before becoming the top envoy to Spain in April 2004, they said.
Ambassador to Madagascar and Mauritius Tadaharu Chichii was appointed to concurrently serve as ambassador to Comoros.
