A Kimura Construction Co. executive allegedly involved in the quake-resistance data fabrication scam was released Tuesday on 3.5 million yen bail.
Akira Shinozuka, 45, who was the Tokyo branch chief of the now-defunct contractor, is accused of submitting a falsified financial report to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry in 2004 to have the company's business permit renewed. The act violates the construction business law.
Shinozuka pleaded not guilty Monday at the opening of his Tokyo District Court trial.
He had been in detention since his April 26 arrest.
