NTT DoCoMo Inc. said Friday its group net profit in the April-June quarter dropped 21.3 percent from the previous year to 163.51 billion yen as an operating profit fall in its cellular phone division coincided with a loss expansion in other divisions.
Group operating profit declined 5.2 percent to 272.73 billion yen on 1.22 trillion yen in sales, up 2.7 percent. Pretax profit decreased 22.4 percent to 274.38 billion yen.
Sales in its mainstay cell phone division rose 3.1 percent to 1.20 trillion yen on a net increase in the number of cell phone service subscribers, but operating profit fell 3.5 percent to 278.9 billion yen.
