Sharp Corp.'s net profit jumped 23.1 percent in the first fiscal quarter on growing sales of flat panel TVs and mobile phones, the electronics maker said Tuesday.
Sharp reported net profit of 23.9 billion yen for the April-June quarter, up 23.1 percent from 19.4 billion yen for the same period the previous year.
The company's quarterly sales totaled 693.7 billion yen, up 12.6 percent from 616.4 billion yen for the same period a year earlier, thanks to booming sales of audiovisual and communications equipment.
In particular, sales of large liquid crystal display TVs and mobile phones lifted sales, Sharp said.
Sales of in its audiovisual and communications products posted a 24.1 percent rise.
