Japan's biggest toy show opened Thursday in Tokyo, with about 170 toy makers from Japan and abroad taking part in the four-day event.
Around 35,000 toys are on display at International Tokyo Toy Show 2006 and many toy makers promoted toys said to have "brain training" and "healing" effects that can also be enjoyed by adults. Among such toys are puzzles claiming to improve one's IQ.
The toy industry is currently facing the challenge of how to encompass a wide range of ages -- from babies to the elderly -- amid a shrinking toy market.
