The government appointed Keiichi Tadaki as prosecutor general at the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office in a Cabinet decision effective Friday, government officials said.
Tadaki, 62, replaces Kunihiro Matsuo. He has been superintending prosecutor at the Tokyo High Public Prosecutor's Office since June 2004. Hailing from Saitama Prefecture, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and became a prosecutor in 1969.
