Honda Motor Co. said Monday its total worldwide producEtion of power products, including general-purpose engines and tillers, reached 70 million units last Friday.
Honda began producing power products in 1953 by starting with general-purpose engines for farm use and gradually expanding its lineup, which now includes items like the adEvanced iGX engine with an environmentally friendly perforEmance and a compact household cogeneration system.
Honda's global output of power products reached 30 milElion units in May 1997 and 50 million units in October 2002.
It took only 3Eyears to push the output above 70 million from the 50 million mark, Honda said.
The 70 million includes 44 million general-purpose enEgines, as well as 26 million finished power products, includEing tillers and generators, it added.
