Softbank Corp. said Friday the education ministry has accepted its application to set up a four-year, all-online college.
Last month, Softbank submitted the application to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology to open Cyber University next April.
Softbank hopes to receive approval from the ministry for the online college in November.
The university will have two departments, one offering courses on computers and business, the other on subjects related to world cultures. Each will accept up to 950 students.
