KANAZAWA, Ishikawa Pref. (Kyodo) Incumbent Ishikawa Gov. Masanori Tanimoto appeared poised to win his fourth four-year term in the gubernatorial election Sunday, according to projections by Kyodo News.

Tanimoto, 60, an independent backed by the Liberal Democratic Party, New Komeito and the Social Democratic Party, was expected to have decisively defeated Yoshinobu Kimura, 54, a political newcomer backed by the Japanese Communist Party.
