A 2-month-old baby was killed and her parents, both 40, sustained heavy injuries in a fire that broke out early Thursday morning at a condominium in Tokyo's Setagaya Ward, police said.

Police said the couple's son, 14, admitted to starting the fire and they were set to arrest him. He was missing after the fire broke out at around 1:40 a.m. but was found by a police officer near his home about two hours later.

The boy was quoted as telling police, "Just before starting the fire, I was scolded by my father to go to school (on time), and I got mad." The boy was reportedly late to school after oversleeping.

The boy had a cigarette lighter when he was found by the officer and was quoted as saying: "I burned a comic magazine in my room and covered it with a blanket. I left the room after seeing flames."
