The Yokohama Municipal Government on Saturday inspected two hotels operated by Toyoko Inn Co. and found that a total of 31 rooms had been added illegally, city officials said.
Meanwhile, the central government has decided to launch a full-scale investigation into the roughly 120 hotels operated by Toyoko Inn nationwide.
The moves by the central and municipal governments followed revelations that two of the chain's hotels in Yokohama removed mandatory parking facilities for the disabled after they had passed inspection.
