Following is a list of remarks by Livedoor Co. President Takafumi Horie about money, corporate acquisitions and other topics since his emergence in 2004 as what many saw as a young, confident mold-breaker in Japan's hidebound corporate world:

* "Money can completely change one's personality, and the moment when the change takes place is interesting. . . . What can move human beings is money." (From his 2004 book "One Who Earns Wins")

* "Even if someone says that is cheating, it is acceptable if no laws are breached. Ethics change with time." (From an interview last February with Kyodo News)

* "I can buy any company if I borrow money." (On a TV program last March)

* "I've been saying, (Livedoor) is sure to overtake Yahoo. Now I think we can say we topped Yahoo in terms of public awareness." (In a speech last April at a university in Tokyo)

* "Becoming a leader is the easiest way if I am to change Japan." (At the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan in September)

* "Why am I running in an election? Because there is a chance I could become prime minister." (In September after filing his candidacy for the Diet)

* "In the next House of Representatives election, I will return to this Hiroshima No. 6 district." (After failing to win a Lower House seat)

* "We will continue normal operations. There is no particular problem with our business. We want to make business expansion efforts." (At a news conference last week after prosecutors raided Livedoor's headquarters)
