Four people died Sunday in snow-related accidents in Yamagata, Tottori, Gifu and Akita prefectures, raising the death toll from snow-related incidents since December to 94.
Among those who were killed was Yoshiyuki Togashi, a 53-year-old man from Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, who was buried by snow that fell from the roof of his garage. He was confirmed dead after he was taken to a hospital, according to Yamagata police.
Nobuhiko Hamada, 48, from the city of Tottori, was buried by snow apparently after he slid off the roof of a garage for his farm equipment, Tottori police said. He was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.
