WASHINGTON (Kyodo) Japan and the United States ended a two-day senior working-level meeting Thursday with the U.S. side presenting detailed plans for implementing an agreement made in October on the realignment of the U.S. military presence in Japan.

Senior foreign affairs and defense officials discussed the plans submitted on the first day with a view to bring back them home for further government consultations for a response at the next meeting, sources close to the talks said.

The two nations are working to craft implementation plans by March as agreed upon in October. Tokyo regards that agreement as an interim report, while Washington sees it as a final accord.
