With the promise of large profits overwhelming any concerns about the political tension between Tokyo and Beijing, Japanese companies continue to expand in China. And following behind them are Japanese banks.
As big manufacturers like Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. increase their Chinese production, the major Japanese banks are looking for more opportunities in the rapidly expanding economy by providing services to the firms, including widening branch networks and advising on local conditions.
"Our priority is to follow where Japanese companies go and take a bigger share of Japanese clients," said Masahiko Yano, deputy general manager of the China business promotion division in Mizuho Corporate Bank.
