For scandal-hit Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Co., the biggest task ahead is how to reflect outsiders' voices in management decisions, newly appointed President Kenji Matsuo said.
"Those who have worked in this industry for a long time know the industry well. But at the same time, it is difficult for us to take a step outside and look back in," Matsuo told The Japan Times in an interview Thursday.
"The new system (for outsiders to monitor the firm's governance) will be very different from the current one, and I believe it will be much stronger," Matsuo said of Meiji Yasuda's business improvement plan.
