Banks will be allowed to sell more insurance products over the counter, the government announced Thursday.
The products include single-premium whole life, single-premium endowment and savings-based accident insurance policies.
Among the major banks, Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. and Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co. were to begin selling the new types of insurance Thursday morning.
