Takuo Tsurushima, president of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and two other executives resigned Tuesday to take responsibility for the TSE's recent computer system failures, and Chairman Taizo Nishimuro will double as president for the time being.

The two exiting executives are Sadao Yoshino, senior managing director with the right to represent the bourse, and Managing Director Tomio Amano, who is in charge of computer systems.

"I would like to repeat my apology for causing a great deal of trouble to investors and other market participants," Tsurushima said at his last news conference. "We have to honestly admit that there were lapses" in trading system management.
