A man who disappeared while on probation was found through a new information-sharing system between police and probation officers to find missing parolees, the National Police Agency said Wednesday.
A police officer questioned the 46-year-old man, who had disappeared after he was paroled in 2001, on Dec. 6 on a Tokyo street and confirmed he was one of about 1,500 missing parolees.
It was the first time police have detected such a person since the new systemwas introduced Dec. 1, the NPA said.
