A zookeeper was seriously injured Tuesday by an elephant's tusk while training the animal at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo, zoo officials said.
The 43-year-old man was working with the approximately 9-year-old male elephant when the accident took place at around 10 a.m., the officials said.
The zookeeper, who is in charge of a cage of five elephants, was taken to a hospital.
