Architect Hidetsugu Aneha will appear before a Diet committee next week to give sworn testimony about his role in the growing quake-resistance data falsification scandal, the secretariat of the House of Representatives said.
When officials from the secretariat met Aneha to serve him with a summons to testify Friday, he told them he intends to appear before the Lower House Committee on Land, Infrastructure and Transport, officials said.
Aneha has declined on two occasions to appear to give unsworn testimony in parliamentary committee meetings, citing health-related reasons.
The committee decided earlier in the day to summon Aneha and three others to give sworn testimony in connection with the scam, which resulted in the construction of several shoddily built condominium complexes and hotels that may collapse even in the event of a moderate earthquake.
