The government will introduce a planning company Jan. 23 that will set up a holding firm in 2007 tasked with overseeing Japan Post's privatization, the posts minister said Friday.
At a news conference, Heizo Takenaka, minister of internal affairs and communications, revealed the schedule for the planning company.
The government will convene the first of a series of task force meetings Tuesday leading to the company's establishment, he said. It will then draw up the articles of association for the company at the second task force meeting Jan. 11.
