Daiei Inc. is in final negotiations to sell its restaurant chain subsidiary Kobe Lamptei Inc. to Mitsuiwa Corp., a Tokyo systems integration firm, sources said Thursday.
Kobe Lamptei was founded in 1993 and runs a chain of 39 beef-on-rice restaurants in the Tokyo area. It will continue operating after it is sold to Mitsuiwa, the sources said.
Daiei is planning to sell off about 60 restaurant, leisure and other group affiliates in nonessential operations in line with the restructuring program it drew up last December.
