Yoshinori Fujiyoshi, 57, a professor of biophysics at Kyoto University, has been awarded the Keio Medical Science Prize for 2005, university officials said.</PARAGRAPH> <PARAGRAPH>The award ceremony and reception will be held Tuesday at the university's Shinanomachi campus in Tokyo, followed by a commemorative symposium at the same venue Wednesday.</PARAGRAPH> <PARAGRAPH>Fujiyoshi's major achievement is the development of high-resolution electron cryo-microscopy for the determination of membrane protein structures, which enables scientists to study the structure of membrane proteins in their natural environment.</PARAGRAPH> <PARAGRAPH>His findings are considered to have had an enormous impact on biomedical research and the life sciences.
