The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry is considering a new insurance plan that would compensate people with defective condominiums, ministry officials said Friday.
The discussions follow recent revelations that architect Hidetsugu Aneha falsified quake-proof data in 43 buildings in nine prefectures. Of the 43 buildings, 13 could collapse if an earthquake hit with an intensity of upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale to 7.
The ministry plans to require condo developers, construction planning offices and the government-authorized agencies that certify building plans to join the insurance plan, the ministry officials said.
