An identifiable photo of a former inmate was inadvertently posted on a Justice Ministry Web site as part of efforts to show prison activities to the public, the ministry said Monday.
The ministry removed the photo from the Web site after an acquaintance of the man told the ministry earlier this month that he could be identified through the photo.
The man has finished serving his prison term.
The photo showed the man sewing in a prison in Fukui. He was wearing a hat and the photo captured his profile, the ministry said.
The ministry said it will apologize to the man.
