A hotel and 12 condominium complexes in the Tokyo area built using falsified quake-resistance data from Aneha Architect Design Office could collapse if hit by an earthquake with an intensity of upper 5 or above on the Japanese scale to 7, the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry said Monday.

Although each of the buildings will need a further seismic assessment, these 13 structures may need to be completely rebuilt, ministry officials said. A 14th structure, an apartment building in Shibuya Ward, has been deemed too weak to stand up to a temblor with an intensity level of upper 6, ministry officials said.

The revelation last Thursday that Chiba-based Aneha fabricated data on the structural strength of the Keio Presso Inn Kayabacho in Tokyo and 20 apartment buildings -- in the capital, Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures -- prompted the land ministry to investigate the strength of the 14 structures that have already been built.
