Ken Watanabe, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance alongside Tom Cruise in "The Last Samurai," has now been named one of People Magazine's "International Men of Sexiness."

The 46-year-old appears in the latest edition of the magazine alongside British actor Clive Owen, Australian country rocker Keith Urban and Swiss tennis star Roger Federer.

In a short biographical piece, Watanabe is commended for his humility, discipline, simplicity and adaptability.

Accordingly, the actor, who will star next in "Memoirs of a Geisha," which is slated to open in U.S. and Canadian theaters in December, says he doesn't believe in compliments.

"When I get one, I try to forget it," he is quoted as saying in People Magazine. "If you remember compliments too much, it might make you feel good, but it's important to stay down-to-earth."

Watanabe also lives by the Japanese adage that "too much of a good thing is a bad thing."

"I have everything under control," he says. "No indulgences."

The edition named Matthew McConaughey, star of "Sahara" and "The Wedding Planner," as the "Sexiest Man Alive."
