More people are receiving flu and pneumonia vaccines, particularly among older people, but the rate of inoculation is still relatively low despite the approach of flu season.

Two types of influenza virus cause the flu, type-A and type-B. The pathogen of such viruses is different from that of a cold, and they are highly infectious. Because flu viruses pass easily from person to person, outbreaks can occur suddenly.

Flu viruses have an incubation period of one to two days. Symptoms include a fever of more than 38, headache, fatigue and muscle aches. Patients usually recover within one week.
