Senior officials of Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc. told Rakuten Inc. on Friday they will present the TV broadcaster's final answer to the online shopping mall operator's merger proposal by the end of the month.
TBS Managing Director Kazuo Hiramoto told reporters after he met Rakuten officials at the latter's headquarters in Tokyo's Roppongi district that the view would be conveyed in writing.
TBS officials were quick to point out that the final response will merely be a presentation of the conclusions of the firm's team that is now studying the merger proposal, stressing that the board will have the final say.
