Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi voiced hope Sunday that the Constitution will be revised to clearly stipulate the nation's possession of military forces for self-defense.
Koizumi made the remark at a troop review ceremony at the Air Self-Defense Force's Hyakuri base in Ogawa, Ibaraki Prefecture, in reference to a draft of a new Constitution compiled by his ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Friday.
One of the features of the LDP draft is a call for revising Article 9 to state that Japan has military forces for self-defense.
