A Liberal Democratic Party panel studying reforms to eight government-backed financial institutions agreed Friday that Shoko Chukin Bank should be privatized.
The panel also agreed that the Japan Finance Corp. for Municipal Enterprises should withdraw from the business of extending loans to municipalities.
It agreed, moreover, that the Development Bank of Japan should either transfer a significant part of its operations to the private sector or be fully privatized.
