A woman's body was found Monday in the trunk of a car in a parking lot in Tama, western Tokyo, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police believe the woman is the 59-year-old owner of a bar in Kawasaki. The car was owned by the woman, they added.

At around 9:30 a.m., the police were informed that a foul odor was coming from the car, which had been there since Tuesday.

In woods in Kanagawa Prefecture on Thursday, police found the body of a 70-year-old man who was living with the bar owner. They said they are looking into whether the two deaths are linked.

The woman had been missing since Oct. 16 and her relatives had asked police to investigate her whereabouts.
